What Do People Say About You When You Aren't There?

To be honest, I'm newer to the “business” side of my work.

Despite earning an MBA from a good school, I did not launch Ascended Presence with a well-thought-out strategy, branding, marketing, sales and socials – you know, all the business-y things an entrepreneur should do.

You've seen how I change the colors and fonts all the time – the antithesis of good branding. 🤦‍♀️

Sometimes I use a photo, sometimes not. I write to you sporadically instead of weekly which the pros say to do. I share from my heart instead of optimize for SEO rankings. As a fellow coach pointed out, I often have no clear call to action (CTA in biz speak).

Even last week, several of you pointed out that I'd forgotten to link to my own website for psychic readings. 🙃

You Always Have a Brand

I recently heard on a podcast that, even if you think you don't have a brand…

…your brand is what people say about you when you're not in the room.

Most of us don't get the luxury of knowing what people say about us because, well duh, we're not there. But recently, I had this good fortune.

I was watching a replay of a zoom meeting I hadn't been able to attend live and was surprised to hear the facilitator, Janelle Pearson, talking about a reading she'd had with me.

Aside from my heart soaring with gratitude, I realized that even though I send mish-mash and inconsistent newsletters, don't post properly on social media, and forget to “sell” my services, it's the work that resonates with people – that's a brand I can stand behind. Whew! 😅

Saying You Support Women or Small Business is One Thing

It's one thing to refer a friend privately (and I deeply appreciate all your referrals🙏🏾); it's just a whole other level when you publicly share a resource you value.
